One of my passions is learning dying arts, the way things use to be done you know… old techniques that seem to be being forgotten. This has led me down the path of learning many cooking secrets, Whether it’s baking a pie, smoking some meat or how to make jam the way my great grandmother did. It is also the cause of one of my other loves, Letterpress. It combines my love of all things design and the art of learning an old technique into one fun, but not so little hobby.
My garage is my print shop and is currently home to 2 printing presses and a 110 year old Guillotine named Gertie. The printing press pictured is my 115 year old 10 x 15 Chandler & Price named Franklin. I found Franklin back in 2015 whilst on a holiday to California, USA and instantly fell in love, packed him up and shipped him all the way back to Australia.
But it’s not all about just letterpress, there’s some etching and hand lettering in there too. So here are just a few letterpress/printing jobs Franklin & I have done.
