Portal Redesign
This was such a fun project to work on as I got to totally redesign our portal, explore other design systems and evolve our brand. It started out as a side project because I could see the need for us to simplify and update our portal to stay up to date with design trends. The business loved my ideas and there was a plan for it to be implemented but unfortunately we never got there.

To explore different design systems, what other companies were doing and redesign our portal accordingly making it more modern, on brand and easier to use.

Research
I did extensive research into companies such as other insurers, fintech, telcos and anyone else I could find that involved filling out a form or collecting information.
I also conducted interviews with Advisers and gathered insights into how they felt about our current portal, what they liked, didn’t like and what worked and what didn’t work for them and how easy they found it to use.
From this I then started researching design systems such as Googles Material design and Apples Design. After narrowing down our options based on what would work with our portal and our brand I created some simple prototypes which I tested with the rest of the Customer Experience team.
Testing Internally
The whole team loved the new designs and all agreed that the best way forward was to implement the Material Design system into our portal.
External Testing
Limited external testing was conducted but the early feedback was that they loved the redesign, They felt like it was more fun, it was so much easier to digest all the information, what they needed to do and the adding covers section was now so much easier to figure out and easily see what they had and hadn’t added.
Next Steps
Initial work started on incorporating the new design into the portal however the project never made it any further due to other business priorities and was shelved for the time being. The plan was to implement the change throughout the portal in the work we were doing to allow Advisers to see and easily make changes to their clients Policy’s within the portal but now it is another fun project locked in a vault that will unfortunately never see the light of day.
