Integrity – Portal Homepage

Project Description

Portal Homepage

Brief
In my time at Integrity our portal homepage/dashboard underwent a couple of different evolutions. Initially it was our main way of communicating with Advisers about changes happening in the portal and when I started at Integrity it looked like this:

The Objective

  • To update the design to bring the portal homepage in line with our brand evolution
  • To make the homepage more appealing

My role in this project

  • User research
  • User interviews
  • Data analysis & synthesising
  • UI designs
  • Creating prototypes
  • Usability test prototypes
  • Presenting the project

UX Challenges
Understand the Business and Adviser needs
First I needed to understand the business goals as well as find out what our Advisers wanted so conducted interviews with our internal stakeholders across numerous teams and then with our Advisers.

Affinity Mapping
I then used Affinity Mapping to help organise the data that I gathered from the interviews. From this it was clear there were a few key areas we could improve the dashboard.

The key insights were:

  • The business wanted to be able to communicate with our advisers more clearly than just one thing at a time with the carousel
  • The business wanted the dashboard to be updated to reflect the evolution of our brand
  • Advisers hated the existing carousel image and having to wait for it to scroll
  • Advisers wanted to hear from us about more
  • Advisers wanted to hear from us more often
  • Advisers thought the existing dashboard was boring and dated
  • Advisers wanted more than just static content

Design & Testing
While working on the design solution I was keen to be able to provide the ability to communicate with Advisers with video content as well as static content. After working with the development team on a few ideas we decided to build a dashboard where we could swap out the panels and ‘mix and match’ to give us the greatest possible use of the page. After few rounds of designs, back and forth with the development team I then began testing internally and then with Advisers. We then settled on the below design.

Having worked closely with the development team during the design phase, we were able to provide a solution which allowed us to swap and change the panels to suit our business needs. While providing Advisers with more useful and engaging content. We could swap out the 3 panels for 1 large panel which could also contain a video. Or we could insert one large panel above or below the 3 smaller panels. We could even combine 2 of the smaller panels to make 1 larger panel and 1 smaller panel.

Development & Testing
Once business Sign off was complete, I then provided the final designs to the development team and worked closely with them as they implemented the changes into the portal. Once done I was then involved with testing the changes and working with the team on tweaks and improvements before providing final sign off before the updates could go live.
